Connecting Tremendous for Automated Payouts

Tremendous enables automated affiliate payouts. Instead of manually transferring funds to each affiliate, Toppal sends payout instructions to Tremendous, which delivers the reward directly to the affiliate via email. Affiliates can then choose how to receive their reward (bank transfer, PayPal, gift cards, and more depending on your campaign configuration).

Plan requirement: The Tremendous integration is available on Standard and Pro plans.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, ensure you have:

  • A Tremendous account

  • At least one campaign template configured in Tremendous

  • A funded balance in your Tremendous account (for live payouts)

  • Admin access to your Toppal account

Setup Steps

  1. Navigate to Admin > Integrations > Tremendous.

  2. Click Connect Tremendous.

  3. Enter your Tremendous API key.

  4. Toppal validates the key automatically. If validation fails, verify the key is correct and has not expired.

  5. Select a Campaign Template from the dropdown. This determines the reward options available to your affiliates (e.g., which gift cards, whether bank transfer is offered).

  6. Select a Funding Source from the dropdown. This shows your available Tremendous balance.

  7. Click Connect Tremendous to complete the setup.

Where to find your API key:

  1. Log in to app.tremendous.com.

  2. Navigate to Account > Settings > Developer.

  3. Copy your API key.

Test Mode

To test the payout flow without sending real money, use a Tremendous sandbox API key.

  • Sandbox API keys start with TEST_ and connect to the Tremendous test environment at testflight.tremendous.com.

  • When connected with a test key, a "Test mode" badge appears on the Tremendous integration page in Toppal.

  • All payouts made in test mode are simulated -- no real funds are transferred.

  • Use test mode to verify your payout workflow end-to-end before switching to a live API key.

To switch from test to live, disconnect the test integration and reconnect using your production API key.

After Connecting

Once Tremendous is connected:

  • Automated payout option: When paying affiliates in Admin > Payouts, the "Automated" payment method becomes available alongside manual payments.

  • Email delivery: Automated payouts are delivered via email to the affiliate's registered email address. The affiliate receives a link to claim their reward.

  • Payment tracking: Each automated payment stores a Tremendous reference (order ID) that you can use to track the payout in both Toppal and Tremendous.

  • Manual payments still available: Connecting Tremendous does not remove the manual payment option. You can use both methods as needed.

Disconnecting

  1. Navigate to Admin > Integrations > Tremendous.

  2. Click Disconnect.

  3. Confirm the disconnection.

After disconnecting, the automated payout option is removed from the payouts interface. Manual payouts remain available. Any previously completed automated payouts retain their Tremendous reference for historical tracking.

Verify the key at app.tremendous.com > Account > Settings > Developer. Ensure it has not been revoked.

No campaign templates shown

Create at least one campaign template in your Tremendous account before connecting.

Funding source shows $0

Add funds to your Tremendous account. Payouts will fail if the balance is insufficient.

Payout email not received by affiliate

Check the affiliate's email address is correct in Toppal. Verify the payout status in Tremendous directly.
